How is anyone going to say they don't see it?

http://www.cnn.com/2016/07/19/politics/melania-trump-michelle-obama-speech/index.html The GOP's convention opened up with a speech plagiarized from a popular DEMOCRAT. They are also in trouble (just as they are every single election) for using music without permission. It's just a GOP thing. Rich entitled old white men cliches are there for a reason, yo.

I know I am beating a dead horse here. I know every other post mentions how surreal the ridiculousness is with the GOP. But someone from their camp invoked My Little Pony defending her speech. Twilight Sparkles or something. That's for real. Oh and the speech uses a verse from the Rickroll song. That part is actually funny.

And then Chachi's wife started off an interview with "Those shit ass lesbians" and they were officially an SNL skit. From hell, possibly?
That's another thing. He's been D-list at best for ages, now and the only thing he and his family have been famous for lately is the sick trash they spew. So this is someone with political clout in right wing circles? Seriously? Chachi and a soap opera star. Woo!
Twilight Sparkle. I know this cause she's my favorite.

But to be fair, the clip circulating is short and deceiving. There is a longer version of that interview which clarifies the intent.

The person, I forget his name, listed quotes by several other people as well all of which had similar wording and a similar message. He was trying to make the point that taking a snippet of any quote and putting it into google will show a lot of people saying something similar and that doesn't equate to plagiarism. It was a fair point. Speech still plagiarized, but his point was a valid one.

Believe me, I would love to jump on the bandwagon here and bash on the trumps, but as intelligent and rational people (us, not them) it behooves us to dig a bit deeper into a thing instead of parroting whatever is trending on twitter or FB, because WE have to be better.

On that note, this New Yorker article by Jane Mayer is an excellent piece explaining clearly why trump should never be elected. Having read the entire thing, I can say with certainty that it is something worth reading.

I think they did a pretty good job in the article putting what he said into context. And it is a valid point most of the time. But that speech was just too word for word to not be plagiarized. It's just the point of it over all to me. The sheer gall of these people. They really do believe they are going to get away with just anything.
I've read that article about Schwartz, too. Unfortunately, I think it's just one more preaching to the choir. FB is a perfect example. One cousin posted a fact check with links so people would see it wasn't just another meme. He was attacked by about half a dozen people for negativity. Now they are just "Tired of so much negativity from liberals." They all have some sort of ridiculous anti-Clinton meme and pro gun meme somewhere on their timeline, but now they are falling back on the familiar old "negative Democrats" trope.
I can't believe how much it is escalating EVEN MORE.
Now they think the speechwriter is not a real person.

I mean, every day it's something outrageous, followed by a denial and/or a smoke-and-mirrors show. Part of me is getting nervous that people will vote for him just for four years of constant entertainment fodder (not realizing the dangers inherent in that).

Me too

My aunt being one of them. "He'd be interesting."

Edited while not at work with bosses staring: This is off the hook! Holy crap. How do you make up people? It's one thing to lie but really, people? And he could be the next president?
